Dr. Noel Abarra, Canon ANELVA
Noel Abarra is a graduate of the University of the Philippines (BS
Physics) and the University of California San Diego (Ph.D. Condensed
Matter Physics). He was a postdoc at Toyota Technological Institute
before joining Fujitsu's media division where he co-invented the
synthetic ferrimagnetic media or AFC (antiferromagnetically couple)
media. He was subsequently with MMC Technologies working on media
advanced recording physics until last year where among other things he
worked on a cost-effective way of preconditioning PMR media in
cassettes. Mr. Abarra has over 50 scientific publications and more than 20 US, Japan, and European issued patents.
He is now with Canon Anelva. Currently, he is working on head and media related production equipment processes.
