Dr. A. Currie Munce Jr., Vice President, Research, San Jose Research Center, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies

Currie heads the San Jose Research Center and has the role of coordinating all research activities for Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, Inc. He joined Hitachi GST in January 2003 after 17 ½ years with IBM Research. His IBM assignments included Director of Advanced Technology for the Storage Technology Division and Director of Storage Technologies for the Research Division.

Currie joined the IBM Research division in May 1985 as a Research staff member after receiving his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Stanford University. At IBM he had worked on research and development projects associated with ink jet and electrophotographic printing systems, mechanical design software, and hard disk drive storage products.
